A case against Ukhozi FM presenter, Zimiphi "Zimdollar" Biyela, has been withdrawn by the Eshowe Magistrates Court in KwaZulu Natal today. It's alleged that the police discovered an AK-47 assault rifle, a 22 rifle, 303 rifles and ammunition rounds at Zimdollar's house in Eshowe in November 2020. Zimdollar was only summoned to court last month.
THE DISCOVERY OF GUNS
In a statement, KZN police spokesperson Robert Netshiunda said police also found a suspected stolen vehicle engine with its number erased on the same premises. "Investigations have thus far revealed that R22 and 303 rifles were stolen during a burglary at a house in Richmond in 2016," said Netshiunda. Zimdollar was charged with unlawful possession of firearms, unlawful possession of ammunition and possession of suspected stolen property.
SHEMBE DEALT WITH MY CASE
National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) spokesperson Natasha Ramkisson-Kara confirmed that Zimdollar appeared in court` and that the matter was not enrolled. "The matter was not enrolled because, after consultation, it was decided that further investigations needed to be conducted," she said. In early November, Zimdollar apologised to the police after going live on radio accusing them of being incompetent and being trigger-happy. Zimdollar who is a popular Ukhozi FM presenter and Durban Gen actress, had fired shots at police after the death of a suspected criminal and businessman Nkululeko Mkhize, who was linked to the killing of five men at a shopping centre in Richards Bay in KwaZulu Natal in September. Mkhize was very close to Zimdollar's brother and controversial businessman, Vika Biyela, who is on a wanted list by the National Intervention Unit (NIU). After the case, an excited Zimdollar took to social media and posted: "We went to court today and when we arrived there, Shembe had already dealt with my case. We were told to go back home since more time was needed to conduct further investigation," she said.
