Well-known Limpopo comedian, Livhuwani Madadzhe known as SABC Livhu, is out on bail for the murder of his wife, Lindelani Nengovhela (33) whose body was found in a pit in January this year. The once-loved Limpopo not-so-funny-anymore man recently shared pictures appearing to be dining at a restaurant and another throwback with Grammy Award singer Nomcebo Zikode. The Jerusalema singer has since received backlash from people who have been following Livhu's case.

In the pictures of the Venda personality and Nomcebo circulating on social media, Livhu writes the caption, "Me and my favourite artist, Nomcebo Zikode. I know those who hate me will feed her with false and misleading information because I am very rich and successful in life." Nomcebo has since received backlash for posing with an alleged murderer. But her team denies knowing who he was.

HIS CASE

It's alleged that Livhu had been abusing his wife for years, but she kept forgiving him and dropping the charges she laid against him. In 2021, Lindelani accused Livhu of disciplining their 12-year-old daughter by locking her in a dog kennel where she was mauled and injured by the animal. At the time, she also claimed that Livhu physically and emotionally abused her and brought women to their home in her presence. Soon after making the allegations, the wife was back with Livhu and even posted a video on social media telling fans who were supportive of her to stay out of their business. National Prosecution Authority (NPA) spokesperson Mashudu Malabi-Dzhangi confirmed that Livhu was released on a R1,000 bail. After appearing in court, his wife withdrew the charges, and her body was found floating in an unused pit toilet a day later. After her death, he was arrested as a suspect and granted R50 000 bail. The matter was postponed to 29 September for further police investigation.

Speaking on behalf of Nomcebo, her management team says, they were unaware of the ongoing murder case, and they totally oppose femicide. "We were eating at a restaurant when he walked up to her and asked for a picture," her team says. "There are many people we have seen multiple times and asked to take pictures and keep several in their archives. We genuinely do not know the guy. He had a girlfriend and her daughter when he approached us," they say. "Nomcebo never declines to take pictures with fans. She has supporters from all walks of life. In the pictures, they look like they are talking and engaging, but they are not, it was very brief. After taking the pictures, we left. She has no intentions of working with him and doesn't know him." Her team wishes the family of his deceased wife well. "We hope her family finds peace and healing. I think this guy was once loved by his fans in Venda, he was a superstar, but the criminal allegations destroyed his reputation. Maybe the picture was him seeking relevance, but we have reached out to him and asked him to remove the posts and not to lie about working with Nomcebo."
