The family of the twin brothers who were shot and killed in a hail of bullets on Sunday night says they want answers why the two were gunned down.

BUYING ALCOHOL

Siyabonga and Bonga Ngcobo (35) were allegedly shot killed on Sunday evening when they went to buy alcohol at the local tavern based in Ezimangweni in Inanda, north of Durban in KwaZulu Natal. Their older younger brother Babongile told ZiMoja that Siyabonga was residing in Isipingo area and that he was visiting his twin Bonga for the long weekend as they were very close. "Siyabonga came to visit on Saturday. He then decided to host a braai for us on Sunday and their friends came over and it became a nice chill since it was a long weekend. Later that evening one of their friends asked them to accompany him to a nearest garage to refill fuel in his car. After filling up the car, it's said that the twin brothers and their friend decided to go to the nearest tavern to buy more alcohol.

KILLED IN A HAIL OF BULLETS

The friend told the family that he was inside the tavern when the incident happened and that by the time he walked out, he saw a few armed men embroiled in an argument with the brothers. Babongile told ZiMoja that the friend asked the guys what the problem was and before he knew it, they started shooting the brothers. "He said he enquired why they were shooting his friends, but they didn't respond but shot the brothers a number of times and later demanded his car keys and fled the scene," Babongile added. He said his heart dropped when he got to the scene and found his brothers lying deceased in a pool of blood. "It was raining and their blood was just flowing with the water," he said. Babongile said that Siyabonga was shot nine times while his twin brother was shot seven times. "This was a clear hit. The way they shot at them; they were killing them," she said. KZN SAPS, spokesperson Lieutenant Colonel Nqobile confirmed the incident. "Inanda police are investigating two counts of murder following an incident in which two siblings aged 35-years-old were fatally shot by unknown people on 24 September 2023 at Ezimangweni area. The victims sustained multiple gunshot wounds. The motive for the killing is unknown," said Gwala.
