The police in Giyani have launched a manhunt for an unknown number of suspects responsible for the murder of a 48-year-old man whose vehicle was also torched in Phagane Village, last Thursday.
SAPS spokesperson, Colonel Malesela Ledwaba said the police received a complaint from community members about a burning car few meters away from houses. He said the police quickly rushed to the scene and upon arrival, the police found a Volkswagen Polo with a Mpumalanga registration number on fire.
"They also discovered the body of an unknown man a few metres away from the motor vehicle. There was also a wallet with bank cards and smart identity cards next to the wallet and a cellphone," said Ledwaba.
Ledwaba said upon inspecting the body it was discovered that the body had been tied with a rope. "Emergency Services personnel and firebrigades were summoned to the scene and managed to extinguish fire. The man was pronounced dead on the scene. A case of murder was opened. The motive for the incident is unknown and the deceased's identity will be released at the appropriate time, "he said.
