Gugulethu Community Policing Forum Deputy Chairperson Lulama "Goofy" Dinginto is said to have been receiving threats before her murder. Goofy was gunned down inside her home in the early hours of Sunday morning and it appears her cellphones had been stolen.

WAS IT A HIT?

Western Cape Police Commissioner General Tembisile Patekile said although allegations suggest that Goofy had received threats just days before her death, an investigation would determine whether or not she was killed in a hit. "Goofy was sleeping at her home and around 3AM, community members said they heard people calling her name and it appears she opened the door and some gunshots were heard. Whether the motive was house robbery will be determined by the investigation. The suspect(s) have yet to be arrested," General Patekile said.

BE WARNED

Patekile has issued a stern warning to Dinginto's killer. "What we want is to track down and arrest the perpetrators. Right now we are saying to that person, either you bring yourself in or we are going to find you." The Western Cape Community Police Board said it was deeply saddened by this tragic loss. "Her dedication to community policing, her unwavering commitment to combating violence and drugs, and her outspoken advocacy for a safer community made her a beacon of inspiration for us all. The news of her brutal and untimely death in her own home is devastating and words seem insufficient to express the anger and sorrow we feel. In this difficult time, please know that our thoughts and prayers are with her family and loved ones. May they find strength and solace in the memories of her impactful life."
