The Gauteng High Court in Pretoria heard that Kelly Khumalo could have used Senzo Meyiwa's ID to do a swim swap on his phone after she had refused to give it to Mthokozisi Thwala. Thwala said he was shocked when he heard the news about the swim swap.

Cross-examined by the defense of accused number five advocate Zandile Mshololo Thwala denied any knowledge of a swim swap done on his friend's cellphone the day after he was killed, instead, he said he was shaken. "Senzo's sister called me a day after he was shot to ask if I had his ID. I said no, and she then asked that I look for it. I asked Kelly for the ID, but she refused and told me she would only give the ID to Senzo's brother and father. However, when the Meyiwa family asked for it, she refused until the police intervened, and that's when she handed it over. "

Mshololo further asked Thwala if he knew of any lobola plans Meyiwa had for Kelly but he bluntly refused. "There is no such, yes they were in a relationship but Senzo had no intention or ever made mention of marrying Kelly known. He wouldn't have done that without asking for permission from Mandisa," he said. Mshololo was referring to Kelly's sister Zandi Khumalo who told the court that Tumelo Madlala, Meyiwa's childhood friend came to Joburg to assist him with lobola negotiations. Muzikawukhulelwa Sibiya, Bongani Sandiso Ntanzi, Mthobisi Prince Mncube, Mthokoziseni Maphisa, and Sifisokuhle Nkani Ntuli are accused of premeditated murder, attempted murder, robbery with aggravating circumstances, and possession of firearms and ammunition without a licence in the murder of Meyiwa in October 2014. The trial continues on Monday.
