The community of Inanda township in the north of Durban in KwaZulu Natal is living in fear after three Community Policing Forum (CPF) members were shot and killed last week. Inanda is famously known for being run by criminals known as the West Gang.
DYING FOR FIGHTING CRIME AND DRUGS
It's alleged that the CPF members are being targeted in the area for fighting crime and drug operations. In the latest incidents, CPF member was shot and killed in the Zimangweni area in their respective homes last week. As if that was not enough, the trigger-happy gang went to Newtown C where they shot and killed another CPF member in front of his wife. It has also emerged that the same criminals shot and killed another CPF member in the Dikwe area last week.
SEPARATE INCIDENTS
KZN SAPS spokesman Colonel Robert Netshiunda confirmed the incident. "Police in Inanda are investigating two counts of murder after two people were shot and killed in two separate incidents last week Sunday. The deceased was watching television with his wife and children when three suspects entered the house and fired shots at him. The suspects haven't been identified as yet and the motive of the killing is unknown at this stage. Police are also investigating the two related incidents," he said. Netshiunda did not want to verify the allegations that criminals in Inanda were targeting CPF members.
