A man is alleged to have stabbed his mother to death in Glen Anil, in Durban North in KwaZulu Natal, on Saturday. It is alleged that the mother, who is a doctor by profession, had an argument with her over the cleaning of his room which she claimed was filthy.
According to a private security company that was the first respondent on the scene, the son became angry and stabbed his mother. The son's aunt who witnessed the incident is said to have been stabbed too when she tried to intervene.
Shawn Herbst from Netcare 911 confirmed the incident. "Netcare 911 and Greenwood Park SAPS, responded to a tragic stabbing incident in the Glen Anil area. Marshall Security Emergency Dispatch Centre received multiple calls for medical assistance at a residence on Baobab Way. Netcare 911 Paramedics and Greenwood Park SAPS were also notified and promptly responded to the incident. The emergency responders discovered that a family member had stabbed his own mother and sister before inflicting harm upon himself.
"Tragically the mother succumbed to her injuries and passed away before the paramedics arrived. The sister was in critical condition and required Advanced Life Support intervention before being transported to the hospital.
