He is a jack of all trades and has arguably mastered all. Choreographer, cook, TV and radio host Somizi Mhlongo is now venturing into kiddies’ clothes with his new brand, Somphire Kids. He is a father to one adult daughter but Somizi says the kiddies brand started off as a passion project and has now evolved into something much bigger. The brand’s slogan,Brave Enough To Be Yoself, speaks to encouraging positivity and confidence in children while they boldly step up in the most fashion-forward version of themselves.
HIS LOVE FOR KIDS AND FASHION
The media personality decided to create a line that combines fashion, comfort, style and sustainability; ranging from onesies to dresses, t-shirts, two-piece sets and outerwear for children aged between two and 12 years of age. He says the range strikes a balance between fashion-forward designs and practicality, allowing children to move freely while expressing their unique styles. "It took me two years to create this brand, and finally seeing it come to life is a big accomplishment for me," he says. "I really believe that kids should wear clothes that not only look good but also prioritise their comfort and offer flexibility." He adds that his love for fashion inspired him to start making clothes for kids. "It has also allowed me to tap into my inner child and have fun creating this clothing line that everyone can now buy," he says.
POSITIVITY
Somizi firmly believes in the profound significance of positive affirmations for children. In his own words, "Positive affirmations are the building blocks of a child’s inner strength and well-being." The brand will be available through their online store which is scheduled to be live to the public from tomorrow, while plans for a physical store are underway.
