The soldier who shot and killed his wife in front of their two kids finally handed himself over to the cops on Friday after he had been on the run for two days. The incident happened on Wednesday where a member of the South African National Defence Force shot and killed his wife in Pinetown, outside Durban.
Tania Msane Zungu (36) was allegedly shot to death by her husband in their home after arguing. It is alleged that the couple had a domestic dispute before the suspect allegedly shot Zungu multiple times in front of their two kids and an aunt. The suspect fled the scene and Zungu died instantly from the gunshot wounds on her head and one on the neck. Police were still searching for the suspect when the suspect decided to hand himself over to the cops on Friday evening. According to a statement released by ALS Paramedics Spokesperson Garrith Jamieson, it was around 10:15 am on Wednesday when they were called to Pinetown for a shooting incident that had occurred at a residence.
"Paramedics arrived on the scene to find SAPS and Security companies in attendance. Paramedics were shown inside the house where a female was found to have sustained multiple gunshot wounds. Paramedics assessed the patient and unfortunately found that there was nothing they could do for the patient and she was declared deceased on the scene," Jamieson said, adding that at this stage the events leading up to the shooting are unknown, however, SAPS will be investigating further. KZN Spokesperson Colonel Robert Netshiunda confirmed that the soldier handed himself over on Friday. "He handed himself over on Friday and he is expected to appear in court soon," he said.
