On Wednesday, Unathi Nkayi shared one of her many emotional posts on her Instagram page. The source of these new emotions was a result of what appears to endorsement and support from Minister of Sport, Arts & Culture, Gayton McKenzie, towards her self-inflicted and ongoing war with Kaya FM and Sizwe Dhlomo. At an event held in Kyalami where Nkayi was MC, Minister McKenzie extended his support to her, years after her dismissal from Kaya FM.

NO ACCOUNTABILITY
With great confidence, he issued what many viewed to be a veiled threat, saying that those who blacklisted Unathi are in for a big surprise. Many took to social media to express their disgust at a senior minister's reaction to what is viewed as 'individualism.' "I like Gayton, but this is not it. I was even more upset by the tears! Made me naar! I was shocked that @GaytonMcK essentially endorsed someone whose part in all this was to try and have someone fired. It cannot be that Unathi gets a free pass for trying to destroy another person.?" These were words used by popular social media commentator Zola Mbulawa on his X account. What seems to have set off many social media users was McKenzie's vow to hold Kaya FM or even Sizwe Dhlomo accountable for what he described as Nkayi's pain. Many on X felt that Nkayi was presenting a false narrative where she escaped accountability for nearly destroying Dhlomo.'
OTHER CELEBRITIES ALSO JUMPED FOR UNATHi
Never one to miss a moment, controversial activist Ntsiki Mazwai also had words to add: "I have had to spend money for legal fees because of women like her (Unathi). No, guys. We literally heard a live audio and saw Unathi lying about another man. In a country that struggles with GBV and men using false allegations to protect themselves. In what was a calming and inclusive statement, well-respected radio and TV personality Penny Lebyane added her voice by appealing to the minister to look at the issue from all perspectives and in a broader sense of women's inclusivity and equality within the entertainment industry. She called on the minister to engage them as women who have experienced the wrath of what she terms the 'boys club' that has gripped the industry. A staffer in the Minister's office spoke to us anonymously; "We were extremely shocked at the minister's statements as he went off script. In such matters, we'd advise him to move cautiously, as this is still an ongoing legal matter and divisive. It was cringeworthy at best, and Unathi should have exercised discretion by not using the footage on her sympathy tour. The event was about honouring legends, and this has completely overshadowed that. She showed complete selfishness and individualism." Mckenzie has not responded to the criticism.
