The Moja LOVE offices were a hive of activity as Traditional Healers Organisation (THO) took to channel's headquarters to raise concern about various shows that they claim portray traditional healers in a certain light.
CHANNEL
Moja LOVE (DSTV Channel 157) has a variety of shows like Umndeni, Gogo Maweni, Dloz' Lami and Gobela to mention the few that feature traditional healers from all different angles. The traditional healers submitted their memorandum where they made it clear that any content related to traditional healing must be subjected to proper investigation. THO Acting National Coordinator Dr Masechaba Sedibana handed over the memorandum to the channel's management.
SENSITIVE
Amongst the things that THO was complaining about was that Moja Love must involve recognised associations experts just like they do with shows like AmaBishop, be sensitive and responsible when featuring traditional healers "We believe that by taking these steps, Moja Love can rectify the negative impact that its current programming has on traditional healers and our sector. We are confident that together we can foster a more respectful and informed public discourse on traditional healing. As custodians of ancient practices and values, we have tirelessly worked to gain recognition and respect within our communities and the broader society. The negative portrayal of traditional healers on your channel not only undermines our efforts but also perpetuates stereotypes and misconceptions that have far-reaching consequences," said Sedibane. The channel has noted the memorandum and will respond.
