The police and SARS officials have pounced at the multi-million Rand Durban home of the powerful and rich Sbu Mpisane and Shauwn 'MaMkhize' Mkhize, who were granted a divorce eight days ago. It's alleged that the authorities are raiding the west wing of the house where Mamkhize stays. A source, who spoke to ZiMoja, said that there were a lot of police officers and SARS officials at the house, with some taking the furniture from the house.
COURT ORDER
Judge President Poyo Dlwati of the Durban High Court issued a warrant for search and seizure in favour of SARS against MaMkhize on Thursday, 21 November. The court order seen by ZiMoja read, "In the issuing of a warrant for search and seizure concerning the taxpayers identified in Schedule A 49 draft, warrant annexed as "SARSA" to the notice of motion. Upon the motion of counsel for the applicant and upon reading the notice of motion and the other documents tied of record, its ordered, Having read the documents filed of record and having heard counsel on behalf of the applicant, the court issues the warrant annexed hereto as "SARSA."
MaMkhize, as she is known in the showbiz and business circles, has been trying to fight SARS for the multi-million Rands she owes and money owed by her son Andile Mpisane, whose Premier Soccer League team, Royal AM, owes SARS millions of Rands in unpaid taxes. The businesswoman and media personality reportedly owes the South African Revenue Service (SARS) more than R37 million in unpaid taxes.
EVADING TAX
SARS applied for the execution application at the Pietermaritzburg High Court on 9 May to seize 13 luxury cars under a trust owned by MaMkhize's brother Melusi Mkhize and her two nieces. Curator Jaco Venter was appointed to inspect Shauwn's business premises. It's not yet clear if the taxman was raiding the reality star's home for the money owed to them by her trust or her for her personal tax, which is estimated at R13 million. In 2020, SARS successfully obtained a liquidation order against her cleaning company for owing more than R200,000 in unpaid taxes.
MaMkhize secured much of her wealth from multiple government tenders to build low-cost housing in KwaZulu Natal. The police and SARS were not available to comment on the matter at the time of publication.
