SABC on-air presenters who were suspended back at work

Lootlove, Tshatha and Zimdollar were suspended for being affiliated with political parties

Three SABC on-air presenters, who were suspended last week, are back on air. Ukhozi FM's Khathide "Tshatha" Ngobe, Zimiphi Zimdollar Biyela and Metro FM's Lootlove Luthando Shosha were suspended after they allegedly endorsing political parties publicly, something against the public broadcaster's editorial policy.

SABC DOES NOT ENDORSE POLITICS

According to sources at the public broadcaster, Zimdollar was suspended after she said live on air that she will be voting for MK Party while Tshatha was spotted at different rallies hosted by the same party wearing their regalia. Lootlove got suspended after attending the ANC's Siyanqoba rally at the FNB Stadium a few days before the elections. A source close to the situation told ZiMoja that SABC issued a strict warning against their talent who publicly endorsed parties. "They acted against the SABC's conduct," said the source.

BACK AT WORK TODAY

Through a statement, SABC spokesperson Mmoni Seapolelo confirmed that the three presenters were back on air today. "The SABC can confirm that Metro FM on-air presenter Luthando "Lootlove' Shosha and Ukhozi FM on-air presenters Zimiphi "Zimdollar Biyela' and Khathide "Tshatha' Ngobe were unscheduled from their respective programmes but will be back on-air today," Seapolelo said. She said she will not divulge the exact details of what led to the presenters' suspension. "We not at liberty to go into the details of the matter concerning the individual, except to say that hosting of political rallies and/or public association with political parties, goes against the SABC's editorial policy,"
