Rapper Molemo ’Jub Jub’ Maarohanye has been granted bail after he was arrested earlier today. Jub Jub was charged with rape, attempted murder and assault.
HANDING HIMSELF OVER TO THE POLICE
The rapper-turned-TV presenter handed himself over to the police in Brixton today after a warrant of arrest was issued against him. Gauteng police spokesperson Mavela Masondo confirmed that the media personality appeared in court Thursday. "Police can confirm that a well-known rapper handed himself over to the police in Brixton on Thursday, 27 July 2023, after a warrant of arrest was issued against him," he said. "He is expected to appear before the Johannesburg Magistrate’s Court today facing charges of rape, attempted murder, and assault," he added. It remains a mystery when and where the offences he allegedly committed occurred.
OUT ON BAIL
National Prosecuting Authority spokesperson Phindile Mjonondwane confirmed that the 43-year-old Jub Jub was granted R10 000 bail by the Johannesburg Magistrates Court today and that his bail application was unopposed by the state. The court ordered him to hand over his passport. He is also not allowed to leave the country until the case is concluded. The case was postponed to 24 August for further police investigations.
