Prince Mangosuthu Buthelezi urges church leaders to pray for Zulu King

Prince Mangosuthu Buthelezi says King Misuzulu KaZwelithini is facing tough times

Zulu Traditional Prime Minister, Prince Mangosuthu Buthelezi has pleaded with church leaders to pray for Zulu King Misuzulu KaZwelithini as he fears that he may face an uprising from amakhosi. Buthelezi is currently under pressure to file an affidavit to validate President Cyril Ramaphosa’s recognition of Misuzulu as the legitimate Zulu King. Prince Simakade Zulu filed court papers at the Pretoria High Court to challenge the ruling that was made by Ramaphosa to appoint Misuzulu as the heir to the Zulu throne.

ASKING FOR PRAYER

Buthelezi organised a prayer session for the Zulu Kingdom which was held earlier today in Ulundi. Church leaders like Bishop Dr Vikinduku Mnculwane from the Anglican Diocese of Zululand, Cardinal Wilfred Napier from the Roman Catholic Church and Bishop Nkosinathi Myaka from Lutheran Church, and Superintendents from Methodist Church and churches from the Zulu Kingdom were in attendance. Speaking during a prayer session, Buthelezi said that he was grateful that the church leaders heeded his call for prayer as the Zulu Kingdom is facing tough times. He said the King needed prayer as he carries an unspeakable burden as he leads the nation in the most difficult time. "May God grant him the wisdom, endurance, compassion, and courage to face every challenge ahead. We pray that His Majesty will reign for many years, as his father did, and guide our Nation out of turbulent waters towards safety. As he reigns, with God’s guidance, may our King become increasingly wise to the way that must be taken," Buthelezi said. He continued to say the challenges faced by the Kingdom were vast and complex.

KING NOT STAYING AT HIS PALACE

Prince Mangosuthu Buthelezi also pleaded with the King to return to his palace, KwaKhangelamankene, in Nongoma. Buthelezi said it was dangerous for Misuzulu to not reside in the Royal palace. It’s reported that the King is currently residing in the porch suburb of Ballito north of Durban. Prince Buthelezi also said that there are outside forces trying to poison the King and he worries that he might meet the same fate as the late King Goodwill Zwelithini. "The truth is our battle is not against flesh and blood, but against powers and principalities in the spiritual realm," he said."There is only one appropriate response, that we fall on our knees and seek God’s mercy. It is remarkable to think that we can approach the throne of grace with confidence, believing that God Almighty is ready and willing to hear our prayers. Let us then be ready and willing to pray, not just at this moment but gathered with fellow believers, but in our homes, with our families, or even alone. Let us pray without ceasing until the Lord moves," he said.

CHALLENGES WITH INGONYAMA TRUST

A few weeks ago, it was reported that the Misuzulu and Buthelezi had a fallout after a new board was appointed for Ingonyama Trust. During an Imbizo, he called to address amakhosi about new developments when it comes to the trust, Buthelezi said he was willing to step down from his position as the Zulu Monarch Prime Minister if Misuzulu kaZwelithini does not protect the land under Ingonyama Trust. Touching on the subject, Buthelezi said the Zulu people are now facing challenges with one of their greatest assets, their land. "I know that you are all aware of the tensions around the Ingonyama Trust at present, for I have raised concerns very publicly about the continued preservation of our Kingdom’s land under the trust. There have been many threats to the trust over the years, and these will continue. We must remain vigilant. I, therefore, seek your prayers for God’s intervention in this as well," he said.
