President Cyril Ramaphosa is set to reveal his cabinet tonight at 9 pm, following his inauguration two weeks ago. This was confirmed by the Presidency in a media statement earlier today.

GOVERNMENT OF NATIONAL UNITY
The announcement comes after the ANC and the DA reportedly reached an agreement after two weeks of negotiations during the GNU. In a leaked letter, Steenhuisen mentioned that his party has been offered six cabinet portfolios, including the Department of Home Affairs, Forestry, Fisheries and the Environment, Basic Education, Public Works, Trade, Industry and Competition Infrastructure and Communications and Digital Technologies. The party also said they have been offered deputy ministerial positions in Finance, Energy and Electricity, and Small Business Development, with one more position yet to be decided upon. The GNU now comprises 10 parties, including Inkatha Freedom Party (IFP), Kenneth Meshoe's ACDP, Patriotic Alliance, Al Jamah, and PAC, among others.
THE ANNOUNCEMENT
In a statement, the Presidency said: "The announcement, which will be in the form of a televised address to the nation, follows the inauguration of President Ramaphosa on Wednesday, June 19, 2024, which in turn followed the President's election by the National Assembly on Friday, June 14. The new National Executive will constitute the 7th Democratic Administration as a Government of National Unity comprising a diversity of political parties as an outcome of the national and provincial elections held on Wednesday, May 29, 2024," the statement said. The announcement will take place at 9 pm tonight, and it will be televised on SABC TV.
