Snow is a rare occurrence in Mzansi especially in Gauteng. This morning, after a bitterly cold night, the country woke up to temperatures below freezing and snow falling in different parts of the province. While many are enjoying the rare weather, many are indoors as widespread reports of snowfall across the country have been making headlines since Sunday.
WARNING
A warning from The South African Weather Services (SAWS) has been issued stating that the accumulation of snow might result in the closing of mountain passes, and temporarily isolate communities and the loss of livestock. A warning has also been issued for KwaZulu-Natal. "A Yellow Level two warning of strong and damaging which could lead to small vessels capsizing, difficulty in the navigation of small vessels, and localised disruption of small harbours and ports for a short period, are expected along the coast of KZN today," Saws said. Snow Report SA says low-level snowfall across parts of South Africa and Lesotho, have begun.
