The police in the Eastern Cape are on the manhunt for a blue BMW driver who allegedly shot and killed a police officer and another man. It's alleged that the on-duty officer and her two colleagues were travelling together when their car suffered a puncture at Settlers Way in Westbank, outside East London, in Eastern Cape.

SHOT UNPROVOKED

While the cops were waiting for help, it's reported that a good Samaritan pulled over next to them to see if they needed help. The man offered to wait with the police as they waited for help. According to the witnesses, a blue BMW car pulled over next to the cop's car soon after that reversed to the motorist's car where the police were seated waiting for help, the suspect got out of his car and fired shots at the cops, killing the sergeant instantly together with the man who was sitting with the police.

MOTIVE OF THE SHOOTING UNKNOWN

Provincial Commissioner of the Eastern Cape, Lieutenant General Nomthetheleli Mene confirmed the incident. "We would like to express shock and sadness on the tragic killing of a dedicated police sergeant on Sunday afternoon in East London." Mene said that the 38-year old sergeant Sinoxolo Tatani-Nkomo stationed at SAPS Kidds Beach and the 50-year-old motorist, were fatally shot while two other police officials (a reservist sergeant and a constable) escaped unharmed. "The suspect's vehicle sped off, and no arrest has been made. The motive for the shooting is yet to be established," said Mene. The top cop further said that the police are investigating two cases of murder and attempted murder. "Our thoughts and prayers are with her family, as we mourn in disbelief the tragic loss of this remarkable individual. Her untimely and senseless death has shocked the SAPS family, reminding us of the dangers that police officers face every single day. We appeal to the communities to come forward with any information that can assist in speedily tracking and tracing the suspects involved,' said Mene.
