An investigation has been launched into those behind voice notes and images claiming that thousands of CVs that were submitted on Youth Day for the Nasi iSpani programme were thrown away. The Nasi iSpani programme was launched on Friday, 16 June 2023, where thousands of unemployed people submitted their CVs at different walk-in centres around the Gauteng province.

EFFORTS TO DISCREDIT THE PROGRAMME

Gauteng Premier Panyaza Lesufi responded to the allegations made in the voice notes saying these were efforts to discredit the initiative. "In the voice notes it is alleged that the CVs of some of the applicants who applied for the advertised vacancies through the Nasi iSpani campaign at some of the 22 walk-in centres were dumped and will not be processed. The source of the videos and the images circulating on social media is being investigated by the Office of the Premier to determine their origin and action will be taken," he said.

APPLICANTS HAVE NOTHING TO WORRY ABOUT

Lesufi said applicants need not worry because all their CVs will be fairly processed. "We wish to allay all the applicants’ fears that all the CVs that were received via the jobs portal and at the walk-in centres will be accounted for and that the various departments and entities are busy with the capturing process. Once this process is complete, applicants will get a reference number confirming receipt of their application. This is likely to be within the next two weeks. We wish to assure all applicants who submitted their applications physically that their information was captured on the register they completed," Lesufi said, adding that If their CVs cannot be found, they will contact them and ask them to resubmit before the closing date, which is July 14.

NASI ISPANI JOB FAIR

At least 8,000 jobs from across all Gauteng provincial departments and entities were advertised at the Nasi iSpani jobs fair. The posts range from drivers, office admin and groundsmen to managerial and advisory posts. While promoted as jobs for the youth, the vacancies are open to everyone, provided they meet the requirements.
