He has been playing football from a tender age and became a professional soccer player at the age of 18. Former Supersport and current Orlando Pirates midfielder Thandani "Bibo" Ntshumayelo (33) has announced his decision to retire from professional football.
RETIREMENT
Ntshumayelo said he made the decision after a lengthy meeting with his family. "After careful consideration and lengthy consultation with my family, I have decided to officially announce my retirement from football with immediate effect," he said in a statement. "It’s a decision that I didn’t take lightly because football has been part of my entire life. I feel privileged to have realised my dream of becoming a professional footballer."
A VOTE OF THANKS
He thanked his former clubs, Supersport United and Orlando Pirates, for the opportunities they created for him. "To my Supersport family, who gave me my big break to turn pro at the age of 18, I will forever be grateful for everything you have done for me," he says. "It was also an honour to represent one of the biggest clubs in Africa, Orlando Pirates. It is for this reason that I would like to express my attitude toward Dr. Irvin Khoza for giving me an opportunity to represent his big institution," he adds. He also acknowledged his parents and partner, who have been there for him in "good and bad times," he says. "I wouldn’t be the man I am today without your love and support. To my son, Leano, I love you and you inspire me to be a better person. "
