He is known as the president of AmaBhinca and his no-holes-barred bad-boy image has got him more fans than enemies. Ngizwe Mchunu has expressed how the bad-boy image affected his life, mental health and finances.
VIOLENCE
The former Ukhozi FM host was at the height of his radio career when he faced a lot of backlash and suffered many legal battles. In 2021, he was arrested and accused of inciting violence during the July unrest following Jacob Zuma's arrest. He was labelled a terrorist by international news platforms and this affected his image. "I've did my part during the unrest and I have learned my lesson,' he shared. "I am not a tribalist, but I am proud of who I am and proud of the Zulu nation. If other tribes are not proud of who they are, it's none of my business," he said.
LOST MILLIONS
In the year 2018, Ngizwe was dismissed from his job as a radio host from Ukhozi FM after 11 years of being a fan favourite. His dismissal came following allegations of leaking private station information. He said the experience affected his mental and financial health and he lost an estimated R5 million in bookings and business. "It affected me a lot. I was highly depressed.'
