The police in Limpopo have launched a manhunt for a suspect who allegedly chased his love rival down the street before stabbing him to death. The incident happened on Sunday evening at Xitlakati village, outside Giyani, in the Mopani District.
SAPS spokesperson Colonel Malesela Ledwaba said a woman was allegedly sitting outside her home with her lover when they were approached by the suspect. "The second man is also believed to be having a love affair with the same woman. The second man asked to speak to the woman, and according to information at the police's disposal, she refused and told the man in question to come back the following day," said Ledwaba, adding that it is further alleged that the second man attacked the victim who was sitting with the woman and suddenly chased him.
The victim managed ran away into the dark place on the street. "It appears that the suspect caught up with the victim and stabbed him on the chest with a sharp object. The deceased man managed to inform a witness, before he died, that he had been stabbed by the known suspect," Ledwaba said. He added that the police, were informed about the incident and then rushed to the scene. "At the scene, officers found the lifeless body of a man lying on the street, in a pool of blood. The deceased man who was identified by his sister as Amukelani Hlongwani (33) had a visible stab wound," he said.
