Longwe Twala has been re-arrested, a day after ZiMoja reported that he was roaming the streets of Diepkloof in Soweto, even though it had been 30 days since his warrant of arrest was issued. The former child star, who is Sello 'Chicco' Twala's son, absconded from the Randburg Magistrate's Court on 25 October, where he is facing charges of theft.
HE WAS A FREEMAN YESTERDAY
Longwe was arrested in September after he allegedly stole from his father while he was in the US on business. Chicco alleges that Longwe stole his expensive musical instruments worth over R200 000 after breaking in at his house in August. Yesterday, Chicco shared his frustration over the police not arresting Longwe, whom he said had a drug problem dating over 20 years ago. Chicco said he also went to the police station to demand answers. ZiMoja spotted him in Diepkloof walking with street kids and pushing a trolley with scrap metal.
HE WILL APPEAR IN COURT TOMORROW
When Longwe failed to appear in court on October, it emerged in court that he had stolen his aunt's two cellphones at her Diepkloof, Zone 4 residence. The court had released Longwe on free bail and placed him under his aunt's supervision. Yesterday, Gauteng police spokesperson Colonel Dimakatso Nevhuhulwi said the police were still waiting for the docket from the court so that the investigating officer can implement the instructions that come with it. Today she said: "The police only received the warrant of arrest late yesterday from the court. The suspect was arrested this morning at Diepkloof. He is expected to appear tomorrow, November 27, at Randburg Magistrate's Court for contempt of court,' said Nevhuhulwi.
