Songstress Lady Zama is trying hard to resuscitate her career. ZiMoja can reveal that the Collide hitmaker has now joined Open Mic Productions. According to sources close to the singer, her desperate move to join Makhadzi's former stable was because her career was moving slowly.
SHE IS STILL WITH UNIVERSAL
A source confirmed the news to ZiMoja and said that she is still signed under Universal Music for her recordings while Open Mic will be in charge of her bookings and marketing. "She is not leaving Universal entirely," adds the source. According to the source, the talented singer is still suffering the after-effects of the sexual assault allegations against her ex ,Sjava, whom she dated between 2017 and March 2019.
LOSING FANS
According to the source, ever since the Sjava scandal, she lost many fans and even bookings. "It has not been an easy journey for her, it's as if the entertainment industry turned its back on her," adds the source. Another source says hopefully, her new management will be able to help her get back into the game and get gigs. "She is one of the best vocalists we have in the country, I hope people will see just beyond her."
The source also told ZiMoja that Lady Zamar decided to take matters into her own hands and approached Open Mic after realising that her latest album was not being pushed enough. "She has a great album out but no one is pushing it, with Open Mic and their connections she is hoping it will do well," the source added. Open Mic's CEO Lionel Jamela confirmed that Lady Zamar joined the stable. "Yes we signed her for management," he said.
