Kilimanjaro song hit-maker, Pcee, has been accused of failing to show up for a performance at a venue in Cosmo City, west of Johannesburg. The singer was booked to perform at Louis Cafe restaurant and bar last Saturday at a cost of R25 000.
Real name Khulekani Nxumalo, the singer is also accused of ignoring the event organiser's calls for a refund. Event organiser Amukelani Tshabalala told ZiMoja that their patrons were excited that the musician was going to perform at the venue and came in numbers on Saturday. "Our patrons were sure that he was going to come after he did a video and posted it on his social media promising to come and perform. The next thing that happened is that he stopped taking our calls, which made us look bad to our patrons because they bought tickets to come and see him" she said.
According to Tshabalala, Pcee, was initially booked to perform at the venue in December last year, but he was a no show. "At the time, he apologised and promised to come perform this past Saturday and we believed him. He has disappointed his fans and us for the second time, this can't be right," Tshabalala said. She said it was embarrassing for them as an establishment to go on stage and apologise for his no-show for the second time. "This is our business and we will do anything to protect our brand but his no show stunts are hurting us because we have people who expect entertainment from us and we wre trying to do that by booking him, " said Tshabalala, adding that all they want now is for Pcee to refund them the booking fee, plus the money they used to hire the stage, the sound and every cent they paid for the logistics. "He must account and pay the money that we lost because of his stunts. We spent R12 000 for the stage and R30 000 on logistics like security, transport that was going to bring him to the venue, hostess plus the R25 000 for his performance," she said, adding that they will not accept a new date from the singer just their money back. Pcee could not be reached for a comment. The consultant who the establishment used to book the singer, confirmed the incident. The man who only introduced himself as Muzi said, "Pcee had transport problems after his performance in Kroonstad, so we are working on a new date. Bro what's with the questions," he said, before hanging up.
