uMkhonto Wesizwe co-founder and former President Jacob Zuma is mourning the loss of his eldest brother, Ngekengithule Zuma.
LOSS
Although the general elections just came to an end, and party leaders are waiting for their fate, Zuma is saddened by the loss of his brother who died from age-related illnesses. A Zuma family member said, "He is truly sad about the loss. Msholozi and his brother were very close and for this to happen at such a significant time in the country is sad. He cannot celebrate the victory of his party."
GRIEF
The MK Party confirmed the passing of Joseph Ngekengithule in a statement. "UMkhonto Wesizwe Party sends condolences to President Zuma on the passing of his brother, uBaba uJoseph Ngekengithule Zuma. May his soul rest in peace," the statement read. This is not the first time; Zuma is losing a sibling. In July 2021, he lost his younger brother, Michael Zuma (77) after an undisclosed long-term illness. This happened at the time Zuma was still in prison serving his sentence and was granted compassionate leave.
