FAKE NEWS

Earlier this morning, the IEC's website and results dashboard crashed down for an hour and half. The outage caused panic among political parties who demanded answers and also alleged that the crashing down of the results dashboard was a way to rig the elections. Addressing the media this afternoon at the Results Operation Centre in Midrand, IEC chief electoral officer Sy Mamabolo said no IEC staff member or consultant was being investigated in regard to the crash. "The interruption in the replication of data from the national data centre and the various results operation centres was resolved this morning. Data in the centre remained intact throughout and at no point were results compromised. Results processing continues unaffected. Fact checking is key to sharing information. Do not share disinformation," Mamabolo said.

OBJECTIONS

Mamabolo also told the media that there were dealing with 35 objections from across the country. "There are cases that we are currently dealing with and 15 of those have been resolved. We cannot shy away from the fact there were glitches, and we are looking into the recommendations that have been provided to us so that we can do better in future," he said. He could not be drawn into divulging what the objections where about or from who they were coming from. He further mentioned that the Northern Cape was the first province to finish submitting their voters results.
