Godfrey Thobela, the father of late veteran boxer, Dingaan Thobela who passed away in April, is headed to the Johannesburg High Court following a battle with his son's children over his estate. He wants every penny from his son's estate.

GRANDPA WANTS DNA TESTS

The late boxing champion was found dead on 29 April 2024 in his Johannesburg apartment. Dingaan's 14 children are currently waiting for their father's assets to be equally distributed amongst them; however, their grandfather is said to be wanting DNA tests prior to them receiving a cent. "Dingaan took care of his children when he was alive; why would the grandfather who was absent suddenly creep out of the woods wanting to take everything?' a source asked.

APPEARING IN COURT

In a court summons seen by ZiMoja, Godfey and the children, Thando, Ntombi, Queeneth, Bongane, Nobuhle, Theriso, Dingane Jr, Ndivhuo, Shanel and Neo will be appearing at the Johannesburg High Court tomorrow. The documents reveal that Godfrey is demanding DNA tests for the children to prove they are his grandchildren. In his application, Godfrey states: "Ordering respondent one (Thando) to ten (Neo) to undergo DNA testing to prove that they are indeed the late Bongani Dingaan Thobela's children. Interdicting the first and second responses from proceeding with the process of winding down the estate of Bongani Dingaan Thobela, pending the outcome of the DNA results. Ordering the respondents one and three to refrain from intimidating the first applicant in running the funeral business. The 11th respondent should not pass or transfer ownership of any properties under Bongani Dingaan Thobela, until the determination by the honourable court.'

SCEPTICAL

In the document, Godfrey states that he is a pensioner. He also said that it is his culture for a pregnant lady's family to report to the family of the alleged father. However, the families mothers of all the children failed to go through the essential practice. "The late Bongani Dingaan Thobela reluctantly supported most if not all of his children, as he always maintained the fact that only the mother of the child knows the true paternity. He always expressed uncertainty and doubts about fathering some of the children.' Godfrey confirmed to ZiMoja that he indeed wanted to have a DNA test conducted. "The matter is in court and the court will decide after the DNA results what needs to happen," he said. None of Dingaan's children wanted to comment on the matter.
