After working as an employee in the nightclub business for years, Malcolm X finally buys his own nightclub. ZiMoja can exclusively reveal that Malcom is one of the owners who bought the swanky nightclub and restaurant called Monkey Bluz Lounge in Sandton. Zimoja has learnt that he has partnered with former musician turned businessman Tshepo Mashile who is known as Lagosh. A source close to the situation says he finally is living his dream. "He has always wanted to own, people have been looking down on Malcolm for too long, I am happy for him." the source said.

CONFIRMING THE NEWS

The excited Malcolm says his perseverance and faith are finally paying off after many years of slaving in the night. "I feel happy that I'll finally be hands-on and in control as a director and shareholder of a lounge in the richest square mile in Africa, Sandton," he brags.

He says he will implement the wealth of experience he acquired from working in different nightclubs such as ZAR which was owned by businessman Kenny Kunene, Avastar, Taboo, Cocoon, Onyx (formerly The VIP Room), Vanity and Towers Lounge at Monkey Bluz Lounge (MBL).

HIS CLUB WILL OPERATE DIFFERENTLY

Unlike many establishments, which are notorious for underpaying their staff, Malcolm says he and his partners are aiming at empowering their employees. He says their staff will be paid a basic salary. "Our staff will have basic salaries and not be paid 100% through the cruel tip scheme as that does not guarantee them a consistent monthly income," he adds. As a former nightclub employee himself, he knows and understands the frustration that comes with depending on tips for a living. He says without a consistent monthly income, staff members will not qualify for mortgage bonds, car hire purchases, and education loans. "Our waitressing staff will be employed for a period of not more than 10 years after which they will be required to open their own clubs, lounges or restaurants, unless they want to retire with us," he said. All our staff, foreign and domestic, will be registered as employees. Despite the uncertainty of the state of the economy, Malcolm says they will never shut down.
