Ousted public protector Advocate Busisiwe Mkhwebane who announced that she is a member of the Economic Freedom Fighters yesterday says she is not expecting a higher position. During the announcement yesterday, Mkhwebane assured the media that she will be serving as an ordinary member of the EFF ward 28 in Kwaggafontein, Mpumalanga, where she is originally from.

Mkhwebane explained that she was passionate about helping the poor and sidelined communities and that's why she picked the red berets. "I think I will be contributing a lot. I'm an expert in good governance and service delivery-related issues. The EFF has a voice out there, I will be bringing my experience, hence I say I will be working with the communities," she said. The EFF said in a statement that they commend Mkhwebane for joining the party as a sign of her continued opposition to corruption, state capture and the erosion of the Constitution and democracy. "Advocate Mkhwebane has been a servant of the people of South Africa in the past seven years and has been a thorn in the side of the establishment and those who abuse their power at the expense of the most vulnerable,"
Former ANC Youth League member Magasela Mzobe has resigned from the ANC and also joined the red berets. "Today, I have decided to officially resign from the ANC as I can no longer consciously associate or defend its decisions and policy choices. To comrades I met in the ANC, SASCO and the ANCYL who became my family. I wish our brotherhood and sisterhood is not affected by this decision. Thank you, " he said. Gauteng Premier Panyaza Lesufi said he was heartbroken by Mzobe's decision. "I must be honest my heart sunk when I saw your post yesterday denouncing our movement. However, I couldn't help it but remember a call you made to me when I argued that the ANC must not expel Julius Malema. You were adamant that I was ill disciplined and you explained in detail who Julius Malema represented. As per your request, I will protect our brotherhood and friendship, but you must know you betrayed our cause. Our love for football will remain the only thing that brings us together. I can only wish well Fighter Mzobe. To us the ANC remains the future both in good and bad times. Well wishes and ?tsela tshweu'.., "said Lesufi. Floyd Shivambu welcomed Mzobe to the party and said he was a great addition. "Welcome Fighter Magasela Mzobe to the Economic Emancipation Movement. You're a man of principle and a great addition to our movement. Let's fight on until victory! "
