Five more suspected criminals shot and killed in KZN

The RDP house where five people were shot and killed

Five people were shot and killed last night in Inanda township in the north of Durban in KwaZulu Natal (KZN). This follows the killing of seven other people on Tuesday and another two yesterday morning. All the men who were suspected criminals were found with gunshot wounds on their heads and body. This brings the number of people killed in a similar modus operandi to 14 in just two days.

SHOT AND KILLED

In the latest incident last night, it is alleged that the shooters arrived in a Toyota Quantum and entered an RDP house where they randomly opened fire. The suspects started by shooting outside hitting a neighbour who escaped with a gunshot wound in her arm. Brigadier Jay Naicker confirmed the incident. "The police in Inanda received a report of a shooting at Tambo Plaza area in Amaoti. When police officers arrived at the scene, they found the bodies of five men in a RDP house with multiple gunshot wounds. It was established that all five deceased who were in their twenties, were in the house when they were shot by unknown suspects who arrived in a getaway vehicle," Naicker said. He added that a sixth victim who was shot in the hand was taken to hospital for medical attention. "From information gathered at the scene of the shooting, we cannot rule out the possibility that the motive is drug-related. The crime scene was processed by detectives from the Provincial Task Team who investigated multiple murders. Investigations are continuing," he said.
