The family of actor, theatre director and poet Pesa Pheko (37) is devastated after he went missing without a trace six days ago.

The Pheko family has opened a missing persons case at the Botshabelo Police Station outside Bloemfontein and the police have launched a search for the poet. Pesa was last seen by his family leaving his house at L-Section and using public transport to Bloemfontein for his hospital appointment. "He has since not returned home,' the devastated family said. He left his home wearing a long green bomber jacket, a black pair of jeans, black sneakers and a grey beanie on his head.

Friends and industry colleagues are devastated by the missing poet, asking that people help track him down. Fellow poet Vuyi Ngoyi described Peso as "a kind and prolific writer. He is passionate about the arts and activism,' she said. "He is a brother, and we need to help his family. He has been a great part of the change in our communities and we can't let him down.' The police, his family, and his colleagues tried to contact him on his cellphone to no avail.
