Dubious Matthew Lani has surfaced after he went under following his arrest for impersonating a medical doctor last year. It turns out he has been staying at a homeless shelter with his mother.
STAYING IN A HOMELESS SHELTER
The controversial content creator, who used to impersonate a doctor on social media videos for years, lost his apartment, car and all his belongings after he was released from jail. He revealed in a TikTok video that he does not have a phone, hence he has been scarce on social media. He said he is not ashamed to say that he is living in a shelter. "I've been in the shelter for four months now. It is challenging but it is better than being out in the street," Lani said. He added that he was forced to swallow his pride, humble himself and accept the situation he is in.
SURVIVING ON R350 GRANT
Lani doesn't have any form of income and relies on government grants. "I don't have a phone. I also have no source of income. It was better when I used to have a phone because I used to offer HIV patients counselling in exchange for money. Now I look forward to his R350 grant," he said.
He still maintains that he did nothing wrong and wants to vindicate himself. Lani became popular last year for sharing medical advice on TikTok. When people started interrogating his advice and qualifications, Lani claimed to have matriculated at the Cambridge International College and obtained his medical degree from the University of Witwatersrand but both institutions denied it.
