Disgraced Dr Nandipha Magudumana missed another special occasion just two weeks after being denied bail, due to being a flight risk. Magudumana faces several serious criminal charges after allegedly aiding convicted killer and rapist lover Thabo Bester escape at the Mngaung Prison last year. Her estranged husband threw a birthday party for their second-born daughter, who turned six, over the long weekend.

MISSING OUT ON IMPORTANT MOMENTS 

Dr Magudumana is currently incarcerated at the Bizzah Makhate Correctional Centre in Kroonstad since her arrest in Tanzania in April this year. About four months ago, ZiMoja reported that Dr Magudumana also missed her first born's birthday celebration soon after her arrest.

A family member told ZiMoja that it felt odd for Dr Magudumana to miss her children's birthdays. Sources close to her say "It was a bitter-sweet moment for Nandiphafor her to miss her daughter's birthday who turned six years old". According to the source close to the situation, her estranged husband, Dr Mkhuseli Magudumana went all out to make sure that their daughter had a good day with her friends and family. The source says Dr Mkhuseli spared no expense in ensuring that their child had a wonderful day. Another source said he took out the kids before the intimate celebration at home. "The one thing Dr Nandipha did right, was choosing her husband as the father of her children. He is a wonderful dad and a support structure to those beautiful girls," the source said. The source adds that the kids were happy and jolly. The source added that the kids have been coping in their mother's absence as they have been attending therapy to deal with their mom's absence.

DECLARED A FLIGHT RISK

Dr Magudumana was denied bail by the Bloemfontein Magistrates Court two weeks ago. Magistrate Estelle de Lange said granting the celebrity doctor bail would 'enable her to facilitate another escape". During the bail application, Dr Nandipha claimed that Bester forced her to leave the country. De Lange also said that although Dr Magudumana's passport was confiscated by the police, she was still a flight risk because she had crossed several borders with Bester without getting the passport getting stamped. "No bail condition guarantees that the accused will stand trial as she was previously able to leave South Africa and cross three borders without a passport," De Lange said.
