Holes were poked in the evidence given by a cop who confirmed that he took accused number one to point out the Senzo Meyiwa murder scene in Vosloorus. Lieutenant Colonel Nkosinathi Hadebe told the court he had to sign Muzikawukhulelwa Sibiya out himself because other cops were reluctant. The state is arguing for confession statements by Sibiya and Bongani Ntanzi to be admitted as evidence.
Hadebe told the Pretoria High Court that he had to sign Sibiya out because the other cops at Alberton SAPS feared the responsibility that comes with an inmate escaping if you signed them out. The defence for Fisokuhle Ntuli who is accused five in the murder case said there were faults in the processes that led to the accused pointing to a crime scene.
Advocate Zandile Mshololo insisted that the accused were forced to make confessions and even assaulted and threatened if they did not do as told. "In other words, with the point that I am trying to make to you, is that the accused were assaulted by the police whether it SAPS, Tactical Response Unit or metro police," she said. She added that the accused might have been under the impression that he was pointing out a scene for his drug-related matter and not for murder. She put it to Hadebe that there is no record of the accused agreeing to a murder charge. The trial continues this morning.
