Notorious businessman and reality TV star Londie London's ex, Sphamandla Mabonga, and his two bodyguards, who attempted to forcefully enter a Sandton restaurant last night, have been shot and killed. Police said four other people were wounded during the incident.

DEADLY ALTERCATION

SAPS spokesperson Colonel Dimakatso Nevhuhulwi said they received information that a man with a firearm wanted to access a food and beverage establishment that has a no-firearm policy but was stopped in his tracks. Nevhuhulwi said an altercation started between the restaurant's security and the man's bodyguards, leading to a deadly shootout. "Two of the bodyguards were declared dead on scene while five victims, the man, two patrons, a CPF member, and a security guard were taken to the hospital with gunshot injuries."

SUCCUMBED TO INJURIES

Nevhuhulwi said the businessman who allegedly wanted to enter the restaurant succumbed to his injuries while in hospital. "Preliminary investigations revealed that the man who started this has previously been arrested for a shooting incident also in Sandton last year." In January 2024, notorious businessman Mabonga, who was reality TV star Londie London's lover, was arrested following a shooting incident in Tempo nightclub. Mabonga was treated in the hospital after being shot in the ribs.
