Cellphone analyst Colonel Lambertus Steyn has revealed that eight calls were made from Senzo's phone to Kelly Khumalo, after his death. This is after a sim swap was made on Senzo's number after his passing. Steyn is the 4th state witness in the trial of the Orlando pirates and Bafana Bafana goal keeper Senzo who was gunned down in October 2014.

ACCUSED HAD CONTACT WITH EACH OTHER

Steyn also revealed that all five accused in the matter had been in contact even though they all denied knowing each other prior to their arrest. The five accused are Muzikawukhulelwa Sthemba Sibiya, Bongani Sandiso Ntanzi, Mthobisi Prince Ncube, Mthokoziseni Ziphozonke Maphisa, and Fisokuhle Nkani Ntuli. The accused were arrested in 2020 and they are facing charges of murder, attempted murder, robbery with aggravating circumstances and possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition.

KELLY KHUMALO COMMUNICATED WITH ACCUSED

Steyn further revealed that there were cellphone links between Kelly and accused number one Muzikawukhulela Sibiya after Meyiwa was killed. Yesterday Steyn told the court that Kelly was in contact with accused number 5 Ntuli in August, a few months before the murder. "A cellphone number registered by Kelly Khumalo had contact with a number registered by accused 5, Fisokuhle Ntuli, on two occasions, 02 August 2014 at 22h40 for 110 seconds and 15 October 2014 at 17:33 for 98 seconds," said Steyn. Steyn says some of the data was deleted from the phone hours after the soccer star's killing. He said said there was a lot of communication between accused 5 and 3 and based on his observation. Steyn also said that a day after Senzo was killed, a sim swap was done on his phone. Accused number five's phone number was saved as Mfo kaKhumalo by accused number three Mthobisi Mncube's phone. There were also eight calls made between Kelly and Kaizer Chiefs player David Mathebula a day after Senzo was killed.

MAN WITH DREADLOCKS

Two of the witnesses who have already taken the stand claimed that one of the intruders had dreadlocks. Steyn said accused number 3,Mthobisi Mncube, was arrested for possession of unlawful firearm and as procedure, his cellphone was also taken. "A picture of the accused, taken on 25 October 2014, downloaded from that phone shows that he had dreadlocks on that day," he said. Steyn said the person in the pictures downloaded on a phone, with dreadlocks and wearing beige clothes, is accused 3, Mthobisi Mncube, sitting in the dark. The matter was adjourned to Monday for cross examination.
