NORTHERN CAPE: A stepfather will apply for bail tomorrow at the De Aar District Court after he was arrested for the murder of his girlfriend's three-year-old son. It is alleged that Jeremy Bosman hit his stepson with a broom and slammed his head against the wall after the boy, Charvandre Kieran Everson, peed on the bed. According to NPA Nothern Cape spokesperson Mojalefa Senokoatsane, after Bosman assaulted the boy on 19 October, Charvandre lost control of his bodily functions and could not eat or move his legs. Bosman reportedly instructed his girlfriend and the boy's mother, Charmelle Thys (29) to take him to the hospital and not to disclose anything about the incident. Charvandre was declared dead on arrival at the hospital. During the examination, medical staff noticed multiple bruises on the child's body, particularly on his back, and they reported the matter to the police. Bosman was arrested and charged with murder. Bosman appeared in court, and his case was postponed to tomorrow for bail formal application. However, the state intends to oppose bail, citing the seriousness of the charges.
