GAUTENG: The police in Gauteng rescued a kidnapped victim and arrested three suspects in Krugersdorp yesterday. It is reported that two police sergeants were driving from Leratong Hospital to Krugersdorp when they noticed a suspicious-looking vehicle and tried to stop it. Instead of stopping, one of the occupants pointed a firearm at the police and the cops shot back and the suspects stopped the car. The police searched the vehicle and found two suspects and one man with his hands tied to the back. Police spokesperson Colonel Dimakatso Nevhuhulwi said it was later established that the victim was hijacked and kidnapped in Centurion yesterday. "Preliminary investigation led the police to the third suspect in Naledi, Soweto, who was found in possession of the victim's hijacked bakkie," Nevhuhulwi said. The victim was rescued and three suspects were arrested and are expected to appear before court soon on charges of attempted murder, kidnapping, hijacking, and possession of an unlicensed firearm.

FREE STATE: A 23-year-old man was arrested by local detectives with the assistance of the community members while trying to flee to Lesotho after he allegedly killed his father. It's alleged that the young man from Zone 2 Meqheleng, near Ficksburg, had an argument with his father on Monday at around 2am on Monday and he hit him with an unknown blunt object on the head and face. Warrant Officer Mmako Mophiring said the father died instantly in his bedroom. "The suspect fled the scene on foot after the incident. Local detectives traced and found him in the same location, following the assistance of the community, which pursued, caught and arrested him," said Mophiring. He has been charged with murder and is expected to appear before the Ficksburg Magistrate's Court today.

MPUMALANGA: Five suspects appeared at Emalahleni Magistrate's Court yesterday for the hijacking and murder of Nkangala Municipality communications officer over the weekend. According to a report, the victim was driving from Kwa Mhlanga to attend a meeting in Witbank on Sunday but failed to arrive at his destination. They attempted to get hold of him, but without any luck. After the family reported him missing to the police, they also notified the tracking company, and the victim's vehicle was located near a fuel station in Witbank. Police spokesperson Donald Mdhluli said the collaborative efforts of the tracker company and SAPS resulted in the swift arrest of the suspects, who are all Mozambican nationals aged between the ages of 19 and 40. Mdhluli said during their arrest, the suspects were found with the victim's personal items. Further investigations led to the discovery of the victim's body in the bushes next to a fuel station in Witbank. The suspects are facing multiple charges, including murder, hijacking, possession of suspected stolen properties and being in the country illegally. Their case has been postponed to 11 October for further police investigations and they were remanded in custody.
