CRIMEWATCH: Another Brazillian drug mule nabbed at OR Tambo

GAUTENG: Another Brazilian drug mule was arrested at OR Tambo International Airport yesterday. The 44-year-old female drug trafficker was apprehended after she landed from Sao Paulo yesterday just after midday. Brigadier Athlenda Mathe said the suspect was intercepted by SAPS intelligence and found with cocaine wrapped around her upper body. This is the second Brazilian drug trafficker to be arrested with cocaine wrapped around their body this week. On Sunday, a 25-year-old Brazilian man was arrested and found in possession of R1.8 million worth of cocaine. Mathe said OR Tambo International Airport police continue to sniff out drug traffickers as they land, sending out a strong message that SA is not a playground for drug peddlers. The suspect will appear before the Kempton Park Magistrate's Court soon on a charge of drug trafficking.


FREE STATE: Two men were arrested and charged with murder after a missing pensioner was found murdered in Harrismith. Diphapang Mosia (74) of Makeneng Village in Qwaqwa was reported missing from his residence on 23 November 2024. It's alleged that the old man left home with the two suspects who asked him for a lift. His body was discovered two days later by a livestock owner who was looking for his cattle. Mosia's body was found lying on the road covered with a black cloth, with the neck and hands tied with a wire. Warrant Officer Mmako Mophiring said the police detectives managed to follow leads, which led them to two people who were brought to the police station for interrogation. Mosia's belongings were found but his car is still missing. Mophiring said the two suspects, aged 18 and 35, were later charged with Mosia's murder and appeared before the Harrismith Magistrate's Court yesterday and their case was postponed to 5 December for formal bail application. Police investigations continue and the arrest of the third suspect is imminent.


LIMPOPO: The police have opened an inquest after a wanted suspect who allegedly killed his wife at Ntoane village in Dennilton was found hanging from a tree in a suspected suicide yesterday. The man allegedly stabbed his wife to death on Monday at their house in Ntoane village before fleeing the scene. Colonel Malesela Ledwaba said the police are investigating the possibility that the suspect had been assisted to evade arrest. Limpopo Police Commissioner Lieutenant General Thembi Hadebe encouraged the Dennilton community to work with relevant structures to fight against gender-based violence and domestic abuse. "It is heartbreaking to see both parents passing on, thus leaving their children as orphans,' General Hadebe said.
