DJ Tira’s wife, Gugulethu Khathi, otherwise known as Gugu, has come out guns blazing against Sli Khumalo, who accused her of cheating on her husband, DJ Tira, with Kwela Tebza band member Tebogo Lerolle.
A LEGAL MATTER
ZiMoja previously reported that Gugu denied ever having an affair with the artist. Gugu’s lawyers have since served Sli with a letter of demand that she must apologise for suggesting that Gugu had cheated on DJ Tira with fellow musician, Tebogo Lerole of Kwela Tebza fame.
The letter of demand reads in part, "You must issue a formal withdrawal or retraction of all defamatory statements and utterances that you have made and/or cause a public apology to be issued within five days from receipt of this letter to the same publications and various social media platforms that were used to publish defamatory and malicious statements. Should you fail, refuse and/or neglect to accede to our client’s demands within five days of receipt of this letter, we hold instructions to institute legal proceedings against you, the costs of which you will be held liable."
NOT BACKING DOWN
The allegations against Gugu have put a strain on her marriage. A source tells ZiMoja that Gugu had left their matrimonial home to stay at a five-star hotel in Durban because DJ Tira asked Gugu to apologise for allegedly cheating on him. In assuring him, that she never cheated on him, Gugu took further steps in proving her innocence.
The former Mafikizolo dancer enlisted the services of attorneys to force Sli to apologise. "Our client has instructed us to address this letter to you following publications, repeated defamatory and damaging statements on various social media/press against her, wherein you made an allegation without any proof that she is cheating with one, Tebogo Lerole. Our client considers this allegation to be defamatory and malicious to her reputation, and that of her family.Accordingly, we are instructed to demand, as we hereby do, the following: That you forthwith cease and desist from and/or causing any further harm to our client by communicating to the press/media and/or any third party to publish spurious, false, unsubstantiated, inaccurate, and defamatory statements impugning the reputation and character of our client," reads the letter of demand.
Gugu is so serious about the matter that she wants it settled in court, just in case Sli does not comply to the demands.
The letter states unequivocally, "We trust that you shall have the integrity to comply with our client’s lawful demand without resorting to protracted and costly litigation proceedings." Sli tells ZiMoja that says she hasn’t received any letter as yet. "She knows where I stay, she’s been there with Tebogo. Besides, I don’t owe Gugu any apology. She can bring it on," she concludes.
