Basetsana Kumalo bows out of the TV business

Basetsana Kumalo sets her eyes on other business ventures

Basetsana Kumalo has retired from television and says it's now time to step back and hand over the reins to younger women.

For 30 years she has worked on the country's biggest TV shows, such as Utatakho, Date My Family, Becoming, Cheeky Palett and many others. Former Miss SA and businesswoman,

She announced her retirement from the TV business and production and said she hands over the reins at her business, Connect TV, to CEO Kopano Cowen, whom she mentored for 10 years.

 

BIG PLANS


"I think it's time to bow out. I feel and know with great confidence that I have built a solid company and I hand it over to someone incredible, smart, talented and creative," she said. Bassie added that Kopano is aligned with her vision and is bringing strategic direction to her business. 

Kopano said in the next 12 months, many changes will be happening to the business, including focusing more on creating documentaries.
