Bank employees falls from seventh-floor office building

Standard Bank says they are devastated by the incident

A Standard Bank employee whose identity has not been revealed died after she allegedly jumped from the seventh floor of the bank building. The incident happened yesterday at the bank head office in Rosebank Johannesburg.

Reports stated that the female employee had complained about her mental well-being prior to the incident. A case of inquest has been opened by the South African Police Services. Standard Bank released a statement saying, they're left heavy-hearted and utterly disconsolate by this incident. "Standard Bank is deeply saddened to confirm a tragic incident involving a colleague who unfortunately fell at our 30 Baker Street offices in Johannesburg,' the statement reads.


LOSS OF LIFE


The bank said in the statement that emergency services responded to the scene to provide the necessary assistance but the employee was certified dead on the spot. "Investigations by the relevant authorities, with the participation of Standard Bank, are ongoing. We remain committed to supporting those affected. We extend our deepest sympathies to our colleague's loved ones," the bank said.
