Babes Wodumo's is making a comeback to the small screens with the third season of her reality show Uthando Lodumo. Real name Bongekile Simelane, she appeared on the show with her late husband Mampintsha, real Mandla Maphumulo. But now, it has emerged that Babes Wodumo has dumped Showmax in favour of another streaming platform.
SHE DID IT FOR FINANCIAL REASONS
A source said Babes is happy that she has been given a better deal financially. "That's the only reason she left Showmax. She was shopping for a better deal," the source said. According to the source, Babes had already shot a few episodes with Showmax but the material she shot never aired because she wanted more money and felt that the content was too strong for the money she was going to get. ZiMoja understands that shooting for the new season has already started.
THE PAIN OF LOSING HER HUBBY
Mampintsha died on 24 December 24 and a source said parts of the funeral will be included in the upcoming season. Another source said Babes will also reveal her new relationship. "Amapiano star Zuma who is said to be dating the Wololo singer and other artists will also form part of the show," said another source. "Babes will be talking about losing her husband at a young age and how she had to deal with grief." The award-winning Mampintsha was the founder of West Ink Records. The couple, who have a child together, got married in April 2021 in a traditional wedding. Their son, Nhlanhla Hlelolenkosi Maphumulo, is known to fans by his nickname Sponge.
PATERNITY TEST DRAMA
In season 2, Babes wanted Mampintsha to come clean about allegations that he had a child outside of their marriage. She even demanded paternity tests at the time. The dates of the new season of Uthando Lodumo have not been made public yet. When called for comment, Babes Wodumo's manager and sister, Nondumiso Simelani, refused to comment and instead dropped the phone. CEO of General Entertainment at MultiChoise, Nomsa Philiso, said people are allowed to change their minds. "We don't own anyone, I am sure people are exploring options - that is the joy of a vibrant industry," she said.
