He is devastated after his home in Umlazi, KwaZulu-Natal, burned to the ground. Artist MusiholiQ, whose real name is Ncazelo Mtolo, told ZiMoja that he lost everything but is grateful his family is safe.
FLAMES
The fire started near the kitchen area and in a matter of minutes, it had spread through other rooms in the house. "The main house burned to the ground. Luckily, the smaller house outside that my brother and I used as a studio was saved.' His mom, sister and daughter were in the outside room when the fire engulfed the entire main house.
MusiholiQ said they suspect an electrical fault caused the fire. "The main switch is next to the bedroom, and we think the fire started there and moved to the bed until it became uncontrollable. Everyone was in the outside rooms and only saw the fire when it had already spread to the ceiling,' MusiholiQ said. Neighbours called the firefighters. His family has not taken the ordeal well. "My mother is not okay, we have lost all our valuables, clothes, electric appliances, IDs, booksand everything,' he said.
LOSING EVERYTHING
The Ngisamthanda singer said community members have donated food parcels and fans and friends have also started sending money to the account. "My sister, mom and the kids are currently staying in the rooms at the back. "It's devastating; we don't know where to start.' For donations, people can contact MusiholiQ on his social media pages.
