Amazulu boss’ daughter Sinenjabulo Zungu and the club’s striker Bongi Ntuli took their relationship to the next level over the weekend when they celebrated their union traditionally on Sunday with family and close friends. ZiMoja recently reported that the two were engaged to be married.

UMEMESO CEREMONY 

The couple’s glamorous umembeso was held at her father’s private residence in the Midlands. The beaming dad and club owner who recently had a baby, Sandile Zungu, was present to give his daughter away to her new family. Most distinguished guests honoured the black and white theme. The isiZulu traditional do forms part of the process of a traditional isiZulu wedding - that celebrates the union between two families and is usually done once lobola has been paid and involves the exchange of gifts. Some noticeable guests who were in attendance were businessman Moses Temba, AmaZulu players Ramahlwe Mphahlele, George Maluleka Dumisani Zuma, Mbongeni Gumede, Samkelo Mgwazela, Thembela Sikhakhane and Sibusiso Mabiliso. Zungu’s older brother Bonga was the master of the ceremony and former apprentice and TV presenter Richard Ndlela was also in attendance with his wife Tumi. The white wedding will take place in summer at Sandile Zungu’s wedding venue called the Zungu Land.

DISCRACED FORMER CLUB DIRECTOR NOWHERE NEAR THE EVENT

Noticeably absent was Zungu’s former BFF and the club’s director Manzini Zungu, who was fired from AmaZulu after he was exposed for embezzling school feeding scheme funds. The former director was fired after he was embroiled in a school nutrition feeding scheme scandal that left thousands poor learners across the province hungry upon their return from the Easter break. A source close to the situation said despite a close friendship with Zungu, Manzini did not make the guest list. " We thought they had put their differences aside, but his absence at the wedding became official that there is a bad blood," adds the sources. The source added that Zungu did not want to take the attention from his daughter’s big day. "They decided to leave him out because they knew media will make it about him," adds the source. Manzini was a non-executive director on the board of AmaZulu FC, which was bought by Sandile Zungu in 2021. 

DISTANCING HIMSELF FROM MANZINI 

After the feeding scheme scandal broke, Zungu was quick to release a statement distancing himself from a School Nutrition Programme scandal. He also dropped a bombshell on his relationship with the AmaZulu director, whom many thought was his blood brother because they share the last name. But According to sources who attended the traditional leg of the ceremony, some guests thought they had the two have kissed and made up and he would be invited to the affair because he also worked closely with the groom and the bride.
