Actress spitting venom against social media trolls

Gugu Gumede is furious

Actress Gugu Gumede has finally called out the fake accounts, purporting to be her, abusing her late mother's memory.

The daughter of the late politician and President of the National Freedom Party (NFP) Zanele kaMagwaza Msibi, who died in 2021, took to her TikTok account to express the torment she has experienced over the past three years.

FRUSTRATION AND DISTRESS

In a now viral video Gumede expressed her frustrations and distress. "I have stopped posting on Instagram intentionally. This thing of people taking my late mother's pictures and posting them as if it's me, it's really affecting me."

Gumede's social media posts have been used by over 35 TikTok fake accounts under her name.

When Zimoja reached out to her, someone claiming to be her friend answered and said, "This whole saga is devilish. Who uses someone's pain of losing their mother as a way to mentally torture them in such a public way. Gugu's fears even opening her social media platforms as algorithms land the fakes on her timeline. It's difficult for her to even promote her work or branch into an influencer as this compromises her posts."

ABUSING HER MEMORY

According to another friend of Gumede's they're assisting her in getting rid of the fake accounts.

"This has to end. Mam' Zanele was a very respectable lady and a leader of our society. Abusing her memory and driving her daughter into a mental state of anxiety is a disservice to her spirit of community service. She wouldn't stand for this," said the friend.

Gumede's posting comes days after socialite Maps Maponyane also took to his Twitter account on Thursday to warn his followers of a scam advert using his face and likeness.
