Actress Neliswe Faith Sibiya is the most unpopular celebrity with the Inkatha Freedom Party. The former Durban Gen actress rubbed IFP members the wrong way when she used the wrong political terms while addressing them. The actress referred to the IFP members as " Maqabane " which is commonly used in the ANC political circles.

BOOED OFF STAGE

The incident took place during the Miss King Cetshwayo beauty pageant event at the University of Zululand. The event was also attended by the mayor of King Cetshwayo District Thami Ntuli, who is also an IFP leader in the area. According to the source, Somizi saved the day when he appeared on stage and the crowd cheered up immediately. The source said Nelisiwe was just excited to be part of the event and did not mean any harm. "She did not think a simple term will have people going crazy," says the source, adding that it was an innocent mistake. "She is just an actress who probably does not pay attention to politics or protocols, but obviously people won’t know that," adds the source. When called for comment, the award-winning actress said she had no idea that term was going to rub off IFP supporters the wrong way. She denied the fact that she was chased off stage. "I had to rush back to Durban for other engagements because my segment had ended,” she said

SOMIZI VOTING FOR IFP

During the same event, Somizi declared that he will be voting for IFP in next year’s general elections. The former Idols presenter, who is known for making bold statements, also joked that should IFP win, he would be the minister of fashion. Although Somizi has never publicly declared supporting any political party, many people were under the impression that he is a proud-carrying ANC card member because of his affiliation with the ANC elite members. Many celebrities such as DJ Oskido, Mahoota, and Vetkoek are known for associating themselves with the ANC. The Inkatha Freedom Party is known to have a stronger base in the KwaZulu-Natal province than in any other province.
