"I just want to move on from this ordeal"

Itumeleng Bokaba has opened a rape case

A former Rythm City actress has revealed in a statement that she was allegedly raped by a music producer at his home. The actress Itumeleng Bokaba, also said in the statement that she wanted to move on from the ordeal.

CONFIRMING THE INCIDENT

However, the actress assured everyone concerned about her that she is okay and that she is trying to put the entire situation behind her. "I know everyone is panicked and concerned right now, but I want to assure you that I'm okay. This situation occurred before my single Mayibabi saga that grabbed headlines last week, and it is not connected to that issue, other than the unfortunate timing and overlap of people involved," reads a statement she issued.

CASE OPENED

She further stated that she would not be elaborating on it any further, as it has taken a toll on her and that she wanted to focus on her music. She said: "I'm not willing to comment on this any further or engage in any discussions about the matter. I have full faith in God and the South African justice system to address this situation appropriately." Furthermore, she told ZiMoja that her focus now is solely on her music and making a success of it as a career. "I don't want to focus on this right now, but on my music," she said.

IT WAS CONSENSUAL

In a responding affidavit seen by ZiMoja, the famous music producer refuted the claims, alleging that he engaged in consensual sex with the actress and that she attempted to blackmail him. "The respondent threatened to blackmail me after engaging in consensual intercourse, which took place at my residence. On the 5th of September 2024, the respondent sent me various messages, one in particular at 12:11 am, in which she asked me to introduce her to my parents to help her promote her song or else she would humiliate me in public," he wrote. Gauteng police spokesperson Captain Mavela Masondo confirmed that a rape case has been opened. "We can confirm that a case of rape was opened, and that the investigation is ongoing," Masondo said.
